Sodium sulphate anhydrous
Sodium sulfate anhydrous is a white, crystalline solid that is odorless and highly soluble in water. It is also known as thenardite, and is an inorganic compound with the formula Na2SO4.
Sodium sulfate anhydrous is used in many industrial applications, including:
Detergent manufacturing, Paper pulping, Drying agent, Dissolving finely electroplated gold, Dying agent, and Dehydrating agent.
Sodium sulfate anhydrous is also used in organic syntheses and to remove certain drugs from the body.
Sodium sulfate anhydrous is insoluble in ethanol, but soluble in glycerol, water, and hydrogen iodide. It is also hygroscopic.
Sodium sulfate anhydrous is low hazard for usual industrial handling. However, ingestion of large amounts can cause gastrointestinal tract irritation, and inhalation can cause respiratory tract irritation.
